REPORT Act

This bill seeks to enhance transparency and accountability concerning modifications to import duties. It mandates that the President publish a detailed justification in the Federal Register at least 48 hours before any emergency or discretionary increase or decrease in tariffs becomes effective. Additionally, within seven days of such a determination, the United States Trade Representative is required to brief the House Committee on Ways and Means and the Senate Committee on Finance. This briefing must include the determination and its underlying justification, providing congressional oversight for significant trade policy adjustments.
