Punishing Illegal Immigrant Felons Act of 2025

This bill amends the Immigration and Nationality Act to impose significantly increased criminal penalties on aliens who are unlawfully present in the United States and are convicted of crimes, aiming to deter criminal activity by strengthening legal consequences. The bill significantly amends Section 275, increasing the maximum imprisonment for improper entry from two years to five years. Crucially, any alien who improperly enters and is subsequently convicted of a crime punishable by more than one year of imprisonment will face an additional mandatory minimum sentence of five years . Furthermore, amendments to Section 276 significantly increase penalties for aliens who re-enter the United States after removal , raising the maximum imprisonment to ten years. If the alien's prior removal was subsequent to a conviction for an aggravated felony , any felony , or any crime punishable by more than one year of imprisonment, they will face a mandatory minimum imprisonment of not less than ten years and a fine.
