PROTECT the Second Amendment Act

This legislation aims to ensure that residents of federally assisted rental housing may lawfully possess firearms without additional restrictions. It explicitly prohibits housing providers from banning or imposing conditions on firearm possession within a resident's individual dwelling unit. The bill also permits residents to carry or transport firearms through common areas of the housing complex when moving to or from their residential unit or exiting the property. This protection extends to various programs administered by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Department of Agriculture (USDA), such as public housing, Section 8 rental assistance, and housing assistance for Native Americans and rural rental housing, thereby safeguarding Second Amendment rights for a broad range of assisted housing residents.
