GRAPE Act

This legislation amends the Federal Crop Insurance Act, directing the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation (FCIC) to conduct research and development for a specialized insurance policy. The primary goal of this policy is to protect producers of table, wine, and juice grapes from financial losses caused by freeze events . The FCIC is mandated to begin this research within one year of the bill's enactment, either directly or by contracting with qualified entities. Following the research, the Corporation must make the developed insurance policy available to grape growers within 18 months, provided specific statutory requirements are met. Additionally, the bill requires the FCIC to submit a detailed report to the relevant Congressional committees within two years. This report must outline the results of the research and development activities and describe the new grape insurance policies that have been implemented.
