SAVE Our Poultry Act

This legislation designates highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) as a high priority area for agricultural research and extension, amending the Food, Agriculture, Conservation, and Trade Act of 1990. It authorizes federal grants to land-grant colleges and universities to conduct studies specifically focused on HPAI. The research aims to develop and improve the efficacy of poultry vaccines , including assessing their effectiveness across species, improving formulations and delivery, and evaluating potential impacts on domestic and international poultry markets. Furthermore, the bill supports enhancing biosecurity procedures for poultry producers . This includes evaluating training and practices, improving farm-level interventions, and developing new disinfection methods to prevent and control HPAI outbreaks effectively.
