This bill, titled the "Finger Lakes National Heritage Area Act" , amends the John D. Dingell, Jr. Conservation, Management, and Recreation Act to establish the Finger Lakes National Heritage Area in New York as a new component of the National Heritage Area System. This designation encompasses fourteen counties, including Cayuga, Chemung, and Tompkins, recognizing their significant natural, cultural, and historical resources. The Finger Lakes Tourism Alliance is designated as the local coordinating entity responsible for the area's management. This entity is mandated to submit a comprehensive management plan to the Secretary of the Interior for approval within three years of the bill's enactment. Furthermore, the authority for the Secretary of the Interior to provide federal assistance for this heritage area will terminate 15 years after the date of enactment.
