LIZARD Act of 2025

This legislation directs the immediate removal of the dunes sagebrush lizard (Sceloporus arenicolus) from both the threatened and endangered species lists established under the Endangered Species Act of 1973 . Additionally, the bill amends Section 4(a) of the Endangered Species Act to explicitly prohibit the Secretary from making any future determination that the dunes sagebrush lizard qualifies as a threatened or endangered species. This provision ensures the permanent exclusion of the species from the Act's regulatory authority and protective measures.
