Electronic Permitting Modernization Act

The Electronic Permitting Modernization Act directs the Department of the Interior to establish modernized electronic permitting systems . These systems are intended to accept, process, and record applications, including plan submissions and payment activities, for all regulated activities. The primary goals are to enhance operational efficiency, reduce administrative burdens, and provide improved services and access for the public. Additionally, the bill requires the creation of a centralized online repository on the Department's website, offering hyperlinks to all electronic permitting systems and contact information for assisting State, Tribal, and local governments. The Secretary must consult with States, local governments, Indian Tribes, and other stakeholders during development and ensure consistency with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) priorities for permits requiring NEPA review.
