This bill aims to improve the ability of veterans to schedule mental health care appointments furnished by the Department of Veterans Affairs. Specifically, it mandates actions when a veteran cancels an existing mental health appointment. If a covered veteran , defined as one enrolled in the VA patient enrollment system, cancels a mental health appointment, the Secretary of Veterans Affairs must actively seek to reschedule it. The Secretary is required to contact the veteran by telephone for this purpose. If the veteran does not reschedule during the first call, the Secretary must make at least one additional telephone contact to facilitate rescheduling.
