This bill mandates a comprehensive study by the Comptroller General of the United States on the menopause care provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs . The study will specifically examine medical services furnished to veterans experiencing perimenopause, genitourinary syndrome of menopause, and menopause stages, aiming to understand the current landscape of care. It is officially titled the Improving Menopause Care for Veterans Act of 2025 . The Comptroller General's report, due within 18 months, must include a detailed description of current VA menopause care and a thorough review of established guidelines for provider training, diagnosis, treatment, and referrals. It will also evaluate veterans' access to interdisciplinary care, assess the quality of care through veteran feedback and efficacy, and review the VA's educational initiatives and outreach efforts. Furthermore, the study will explore how the VA leverages research to improve care and will provide specific recommendations for enhancing menopause services. Following the public release of this report, the Secretary of Veterans Affairs is required to submit a strategic plan within six months to Congress. This plan must outline how the Department intends to implement the Comptroller General's recommendations, ultimately aiming to improve both the quality and accessibility of menopause care for veterans under existing statutory authorities.
