Open RAN Outreach Act

The legislation mandates the Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Communications and Information, through the Office of Internet Connectivity and Growth, to conduct outreach and offer technical assistance to small communications network providers . This initiative is designed to educate these providers on the advantages and difficulties associated with Open RAN networks and other open network architectures, which are defined as systems following published open standards for multi-vendor equipment interoperability. A key objective of this assistance is to facilitate the participation of small providers in the Wireless Supply Chain Innovation Grant Program . By providing this support, the bill seeks to promote the adoption and understanding of open network solutions within the telecommunications sector, ultimately strengthening supply chain diversity and innovation.
