Hearing Device Coverage Clarification Act

This bill mandates the Administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to issue a clarification within 60 days of its enactment. The clarification must state that fully implanted active middle ear hearing devices are to be considered prosthetics . By classifying these devices as prosthetics, they would explicitly be excluded from the existing hearing aid coverage exclusion under the Medicare program. This action aims to ensure that Medicare beneficiaries can receive coverage for these specific types of advanced hearing devices, aligning their treatment with other prosthetic benefits. The bill specifies that "prosthetic" will be defined according to existing federal regulations.
