This bill requires the Secretary of Agriculture to convey specific parcels of National Forest System land located within the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests in Arizona. The legislation aims to facilitate the expansion of local cemeteries by transferring federal land to two Arizona counties: Navajo County and Apache County. For Navajo County, Arizona , the bill mandates the conveyance of approximately 5 acres for the expansion of the Pinedale Cemetery. This transfer is contingent upon the County submitting a written request within 180 days of the Act's enactment. While the conveyance will be made without monetary consideration, Navajo County is responsible for covering all associated costs, including necessary surveys and environmental analyses. Similarly, the bill directs the Secretary to convey about 10.62 acres of land to Apache County, Arizona , for the Alpine Cemetery. Apache County must request this conveyance within 365 days of enactment. As with Navajo County, this transfer will also occur without monetary consideration, with Apache County bearing all conveyance-related expenses. Both conveyances are subject to several key terms and conditions. They will be made by quitclaim deed, are subject to valid existing rights, and are not subject to certain environmental liability provisions. A critical condition for both counties is that the conveyed land must be used exclusively as a cemetery , with a clear reversion clause stipulating that if the property's use becomes inconsistent with this requirement, all rights and title will revert to the United States.
