Climate and Health Protection Act

This legislation, titled the "Climate and Health Protection Act," amends the Public Health Service Act to ensure the continued operation of the Climate and Health program by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The program, carried out by the National Center for Environmental Health, is tasked with translating climate change science to inform State, local, Tribal, and territorial governments and communities. It also aims to create decision support tools to build capacity for climate change preparedness and serve as a credible leader in addressing the public health impacts of climate change. For fiscal year 2026 and each subsequent fiscal year, the bill authorizes an appropriation of $110,000,000 to support this program. A significant provision prevents the Secretary from transferring or reprogramming these authorized funds to other programs administered by the Secretary, ensuring dedicated funding for climate and health initiatives.
