This bill amends the Uniform Time Act of 1966 , granting states a new option for time observance. Currently, states can choose to exempt themselves from daylight saving time; this legislation would allow them to instead elect to observe daylight saving time year-round . Under the proposed changes, states would gain the authority to apply the advancement of time for the entire duration of the year. This election could be made for the entire state or specifically for areas within the state that fall within a particular time zone .
