This bill, known as the "Taiwan Assurance Implementation Act," amends the Taiwan Assurance Act of 2020 to enhance congressional oversight of U.S. policy towards Taiwan. It mandates that the Department of State conduct a comprehensive review of its guidance governing relations with Taiwan, including the "Guidelines on Relations with Taiwan" and any successor documents, at least every five years. This review ensures the guidance remains current and is reissued to executive branch departments. Following each review, the Secretary of State must submit an updated report to the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations and the House Committee on Foreign Affairs within 90 days. These reports are required to include all previously mandated information and describe how the updated guidance meets the established goals and objectives for U.S.-Taiwan relations.
