This legislation directs the Secretary of the Interior and the Secretary of Homeland Security, through FEMA, to establish a pilot grant program . The program's primary goal is to provide competitive grants to eligible entities for implementing innovative solutions to repair damage caused by mudslides that occur after wildland fires . Grants will be available to states, Indian Tribes, local governments, fire departments, and non-profit organizations, including homeowner associations in at-risk areas. The Secretaries concerned will jointly determine the application process. To fund these critical recovery efforts, the bill authorizes an appropriation of $5,000,000 for each of fiscal years 2026 through 2032 .
