Original Students Voicing Opinions in Today’s Elections (VOTE) Act

This bill directs the Election Assistance Commission to implement a pilot program during fiscal year 2025. The program's primary goal is to provide funding to local educational agencies to develop initiatives that offer voter registration information to secondary school students in the 12th grade. To participate, local educational agencies must submit an application detailing their proposed initiatives and estimated costs. A crucial requirement for agencies receiving funds is to consult with State and local election officials when developing these voter registration efforts, ensuring coordination with existing election administration processes. The bill also mandates reporting requirements for accountability and evaluation. Each funded local educational agency must submit a report to the Commission describing their initiatives and analyzing their effectiveness, after which the Commission is required to submit a comprehensive report to Congress on the overall pilot program's outcomes.
