The "LOCAL Act" is designed to improve the management of Federal lands and increase efficiencies within public land agencies, while simultaneously strengthening tourism, conservation, outdoor recreation, grazing, and responsible energy production. A key provision of the bill permanently establishes the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) headquarters in Grand Junction, Colorado . It also ensures that all BLM employee positions currently stationed in Grand Junction will remain in that location. Additionally, the legislation mandates the Secretary of the Interior to conduct a study on the feasibility of relocating more existing BLM employee positions to the Grand Junction headquarters or other western States. This study will assess whether such relocations would improve federal land management, enhance coordination with local communities, and strengthen the various multiple uses of public lands, with a report due within 365 days.
