This legislation aims to support qualified career law enforcement officers by amending the Small Business Act to provide them with express loans. The bill introduces a new provision that generally prohibits the Administrator of the Small Business Administration from collecting a guarantee fee on these loans, effective January 1, 2027. An exception to this fee waiver exists if the cost to the Administration for guaranteeing such loans is greater than zero for a fiscal year. A qualified career law enforcement officer is defined as an individual who has completed at least 10 years of service and is not, or was not at the time of separation, subject to a pending criminal investigation or administrative proceeding involving alleged misconduct related to their official duties.
