SBA Spanish Resource Report Act

The "SBA Spanish Resource Report Act" mandates that the Administrator of the Small Business Administration (SBA) submit a comprehensive report to the House and Senate Committees on Small Business within 180 days of the Act's enactment. This report is designed to provide a detailed overview of all existing Spanish-language resources and services currently offered through SBA programs.

The required report must include an inventory of informational resources like websites and application materials, a description of services available through SBA resource partners such as Small Business Development Centers and Women's Business Centers, and available data on the usage of these resources, including geographic trends. It also necessitates a description of expenditures related to Spanish-language translation, interpretation, and outreach, along with an assessment of operational considerations and any recommendations for efficient administration.

Furthermore, the bill stipulates that the report must be submitted in an unclassified form and made publicly available on the SBA's website. Following the report's submission, the Administrator is required to provide a briefing to the congressional committees within 30 days. Importantly, the Act includes a rule of construction clarifying that it does not compel the Administrator to establish, expand, reduce, or discontinue any Spanish-language resource or service.
