No HUD Funding for Sanctuary Cities Act

This bill aims to make certain jurisdictions ineligible for federal housing and urban development grants. Specifically, it prohibits any sanctuary jurisdiction from receiving grant funds distributed by the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development for use within that jurisdiction. A "sanctuary jurisdiction" is defined as any state or political subdivision that has a policy or practice restricting government entities or officials from either sharing an individual's citizenship or immigration status information with other government entities, or complying with lawful detainer requests or release notifications from the Department of Homeland Security. This ineligibility would apply to grant funds distributed 180 days after the bill's enactment. The Secretary of Housing and Urban Development is mandated to consult with the Secretary of Homeland Security to determine which jurisdictions meet the definition of a sanctuary jurisdiction.
