Kentucky Wildlands National Heritage Area Act

This legislation establishes the Kentucky Wildlands National Heritage Area , integrating it into the National Heritage Area System by amending the John D. Dingell, Jr. Conservation, Management, and Recreation Act. The designated area comprises 35 specific counties across eastern Kentucky, aiming to preserve and promote the region's natural, cultural, and historical resources. The bill assigns The Center for Rural Development as the local coordinating entity, tasked with developing a comprehensive management plan for the heritage area. This plan must be submitted to the Secretary of the Interior for approval within three years of the act's enactment. Federal authority to provide assistance for the Kentucky Wildlands National Heritage Area will conclude 15 years after the bill becomes law.
