CEDS Act

This bill, titled the "Care is an Economic Development Strategy Act" , amends the Public Works and Economic Development Act of 1965 to require grant recipients to integrate care services into their economic development plans. It mandates that comprehensive economic development strategies must now directly or indirectly increase the accessibility of affordable, quality care-based services, such as child care, early childhood education, disability and long-term care, and elder care . The Secretary of Commerce will issue guidance within one year to aid in implementing these new requirements. Existing grant recipients will only need to update their strategies to comply during regularly scheduled reviews. This legislation aims to recognize care services as a fundamental component of economic growth.
