National Archives Protection Act

This bill amends title 44, United States Code, to establish protections for federal records centers and archive facilities. Its primary purpose is to prohibit the Archivist from closing or imposing unreasonable restrictions on public access to any such facility established before the bill's enactment. The legislation further prevents the Archivist from undertaking reconstruction, conversion, or rehabilitation projects at these centers if such work would necessitate the relocation of records for more than 180 days . These provisions are designed to ensure the continuous accessibility and preservation of vital government records for the public.
