This bill amends the Social Security Act to provide for Medicare coverage of cancer care planning and coordination services. These services are defined as the development of a treatment plan for individuals diagnosed with cancer by a physician, physician assistant, or nurse practitioner. The plan must incorporate each component of the Institute of Medicine Care Management Plan and be furnished in a written or electronic, accessible format, considering cultural and linguistic needs. The Secretary of Health and Human Services will establish frequencies for these services, allowing them to be furnished at the time of diagnosis, upon changes in condition or treatment preferences, at the end of active treatment, and if cancer recurs. Payment for these services will be made under the physician fee schedule , with initial rates set to match those for transitional care management services. The amendments will apply to services furnished on or after the first day of the first calendar year following the bill's enactment.
