Smart Data Center Policy Act

The "Smart Data Center Policy Act" mandates the Secretary of Commerce to undertake a comprehensive study regarding the implications of establishing data center sites near specific critical locations. These locations include domestic military installations , rail hubs, airports, air cargo facilities, air traffic control facilities, and industrial zones. The study is tasked with assessing the costs associated with construction , as well as the impact on the energy grid, environment, and water systems in affected areas. It will also identify covered locations possessing the necessary physical, water infrastructure, and energy grid capacity to host new data centers. Furthermore, the Secretary must identify potential Federal Government incentives to encourage such placements, with a report on the findings due to Congress within 180 days.
