The resolution notes that approximately 20,000 individuals were victims of conflict-related sexual violence during the war, with only one perpetrator brought to justice to date. The resolution strongly condemns the use of rape and other forms of sexual and gender-based violence as a weapon of war , underscoring the importance of transparent and independent investigations into such atrocities. It commends the Government of Kosovo for its multisectoral approach to addressing wartime sexual violence and calls on it to uphold commitments for expediting these cases. Furthermore, the resolution urges the Government of Serbia to bring responsible individuals to justice, cease protecting war criminals, enforce accountability laws, and prioritize mechanisms for extraditing known perpetrators to Kosovo. Finally, the resolution calls on the United States Government to strengthen its commitments against gender-based violence, elevate Ms. Krasniqi Goodman's case in bilateral engagements with Serbia, and monitor Serbia's efforts to investigate and prosecute sexual violence cases. It also advocates for sufficient funding for educational, research, and advocacy projects in Kosovo, including training for judiciary and law enforcement, and the establishment of rehabilitation centers for war trauma and sexual violence survivors.
