This bill requires certain actions to address school security. Specifically, the bill requires the President's National Security Strategy to include the strategies and capabilities needed to ensure the safety and security of schools in the United States, including elementary and secondary schools and institutions of higher education (IHEs). The bill also requires the Department of Education (ED) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to conduct a comprehensive assessment of threats to elementary and secondary schools and IHEs. ED and DHS must jointly submit a report to Congress on the results of the assessment.
