The bureau shall be headed by an Assistant Secretary for Space Commerce, to be appointed by the President, with the advice and consent of the Senate. The Assistant Secretary shall report directly to the Secretary of Commerce. The bill expands the bureau's responsibilities to include (1) overseeing the issuing of licenses for land remote sensing activities, and (2) coordinating Commerce policy affecting commercial space activities and working with other executive agencies to promote policies that advance commercial space activities. The bureau may provide space situational awareness data, information, and services to, and may obtain space situational awareness data, information, and services from, non-United States government entities in accordance with this bill.
