To amend the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971 to replace the Federal Election Commission with the Federal Election Administration, and for other purposes.
Federal Election Administration Act of 2017 This bill replaces the Federal Election Commission with the Federal Election Administration (FEA), which shall enforce specified election-related laws and formulate related policy. The FEA shall have the authority to (1) initiate and defend against civil actions; (2) assess civil penalties; (3) issue cease-and-desist-orders; (4) issue advisory opinions to campaigns, which may be relied upon on as protection from liability; (5) conduct investigations; and (6) promulgate rules and procedures.
