(This measure has not been amended since it was passed by the House on September 25, 2017. The summary of that version is repeated here.) The American Legion 100th Anniversary Commemorative Coin Act (Sec. 3) This bill requires the Department of the Treasury to mint and issue gold, silver, and half-dollar clad commemorative coins in recognition and celebration of the 100th anniversary of the American Legion. (Sec. 5) Treasury may issue coins minted under this bill for only a one-year period, beginning January 1, 2019. (Sec. 7) All sales of coins minted under this bill shall include a surcharge of $35 per gold coin, $10 per silver coin, and $5 per half-dollar clad coin. Surcharges received shall be paid to the American Legion for costs related to promoting the importance of: (1) caring for those who have served or are serving in the Armed Forces; and (2) maintaining patriotic values, strong families, and assistance for at-risk children.
