The recreational season shall begin on July 1 of each year and last for 62 consecutive days. The bill also sets forth red snapper allocation and season duration requirements for the commercial and charter fishing sectors. The catch and size limits for all three sectors shall be no less than the limits that applied to each sector for the 2016 fishing season. Additionally, the National Marine Fisheries Service shall issue a proposed rule for the 2017 and 2018 red snapper fishing seasons.
